I really wanted ice cream this afternoon. I mean, I really, really wanted ice cream. It’s just a quick hop across the street, so close and convenient. I was strong and resisted. Instead, I tried the new lemon Chobani and let me tell you, it was wicked good. It just may become my favorite flavor.
But, I can’t make any promises there won’t be ice cream tomorrow.
young alumni collaborative.
After work, I headed to the Young Alumni Collaborative, an event for the Young Alumni Council (the group with my alma mater I went to a meeting for last month). I’ll be honest, even though I had registered and paid for the event, I was so tempted to skip it, put on my sweats, and zone out in front of the TV for the rest of the night.
I did end up going and I’m glad I did. I met some great new people and reconnected with others I haven’t seen in awhile – including one girl who I have known since I was in 5th grade and haven’t seen in years.
Plus, we all know a highlight of events like this: food and booze. Come on, you know it’s true.
There was a great selection of food. I loaded up on the fruit (!!!), had a bit of cheese, some crackers, a couple tiny pickles, and some nuts. Picture this plate twice because I definitely went back up for seconds and had a pretty similar variety.
And a beer. Who needs wine when they’re serving Founders, my favorite brewery in town?
I ended up cutting out of the event about an hour or so early so I could go get one last run in before Saturday’s 5k. I hopped on a treadmill, turned on The Big Bang Theory (not the greatest episode tonight, in my opinion), and off I went. I did 3.1 miles in 33:40 (10:52 pace). It didn’t feel like my strongest run, but I could tell that since it was my fourth consecutive day out, I was feeling it. A lot. The first 2 miles felt good, but I faded really fast after that.
I’m off to go crash into bed! I feel like I’ll sleep really good tonight!
