My arms are feeling like rubber tonight – my upper body strength training session was tougher than I anticipated, but it felt so awesome!  I love feeling strong!  I did 3 sets of 15 reps using 8 pound weights for everything.

  • Chest flys
  • Biceps curls
  • Triceps extensions
  • Triceps curls
  • Overhead press

I also did a 1 minute forearm plank and attempted Week 1, Day 3 of the 100 pushup challenge.  That didn’t go so hot – I was spent by the 4th set and couldn’t do the 5th.  I’ll give it another shot in a couple days.  Probably when I haven’t already done a major upper body workout already.

After a solid effort at strength, I hit up Zumba!  I was crazy sweaty and exhausted by the end, but I had a blast.  It’s always fun to exercise when it doesn’t feel like exercise.

Dinner was a smoothie with a banana, a scoop of vanilla protein powder, and 1 cup each of spinach, frozen raspberries, frozen blackberries, and water.  I topped it with vanilla almond granola.

I drank my smoothie out of a wine class.  You know, like you do.

You stay classy, San Diego Grand Rapids.

I curled up in bed and watched Country Strong tonight which I didn’t enjoy quite as much as I was hoping.  It’s the story of country singer Kelly Cantor (Gwyneth Paltrow) who is attempting to make a comeback after a stint in rehab.  She takes two up and coming artists (Leighton Meester, Garrett Hedlund) on the road with her. I loved the music, but thought the story was really disconnected.  The last 20-30 minutes was probably the strongest.  Hedlund gave a standout performance – and who knew he could sing?!

Are you a country music fan?  Have you seen Country Strong?

LOVE the smoothie in a wine glass! Great use for those enormous wine glasses that I’d never fill up with wine.

Well, almost never…
