you belong here.

I was up a bit earlier than I am on a normal Sunday morning – I was volunteering at church for Recruitment Sunday!  Near the end of every school year, there’s one Sunday dedicated to recruiting volunteers for our student ministry.

This year’s theme:  you belong here.

A perk of volunteering on Recruitment Sunday (beyond the fact that I love student ministry, that is)?  Definitely the free shirt.  Because, clearly, I don’t have enough t-shirts already.

Breakfast was a bowl of Kashi GoLean! Crunch with almond milk.  I just love this stuff.  It sometimes makes my stomach go nuts, but it’s tasty and filling…and quick.

I grabbed some groceries on my way home.  I love having a fridge full of fresh food!  The downfall of the trip was that I went without a list and surely didn’t get things that I actually needed.  But, never fear, I got some ice cream, so the important things are covered.  😉

I made a quick stop by my house to drop the food off before heading back to where I’m house sitting to let the dogs out for a bit.  In retrospect, I should have made lunch at my house, because the food I brought with me is pretty sparse (today is my last day!).

I had a peanut butter sandwich and raspberry Chobani.

This afternoon, I headed back to my hometown to catch up with Emily and Amanda, two childhood friends.  Emily lives down in Indiana now, so we try to get together when she makes it up this way.  We went to Jumpin’ Java, a coffeehouse where I spent a considerable number of hours in my late high school/early college years.

When we were figuring out where to go, Amanda kept raving about their Thin Mint blended drink.  She piqued my interest enough that I got one.  Actually, it’s what all three of us ended up getting!

It’s quite impressive how much it actually tasted like the cookie!  We chatted for almost three hours!  I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to head back to feed the pups one last time.

Between family time yesterday and catching up with old friends today, it’s been an absolutely wonderful weekend!  I’m off to go soak up the last few hours before it’s back to reality tomorrow!

What was the highlight of your weekend?
