two left feet.

There are some weeks at Zumba when I feel pretty confident that I have a pretty good grasp on the dances.  Then there are weeks when I feel like I have two left feet and my future as a So You Think You Can Dance? contestant are numbered.  This was one of those weeks.

Don’t worry, I don’t actually think I’d stand a chance on So You Think You can Dance?.  I’d be the William Hung of that show.  Okay, okay, not that bad.

I feel like those are the weeks I don’t get nearly as good of a workout of the class.  I’m so focused on trying to figure out the moves that I really don’t give it my all.  Perhaps the week between two races, that’s not such a bad thing this time around.

I did my pre-Zumba strength training session, as well, working primarily on upper body and a bit of core work.

  • Incline press (machine) 15 lb – 10 reps x 3 sets
  • Lateral pull (machine) 30 lb – 10 x 3
  • Biceps curls 8 lb/side – 15 x 3
  • Triceps curls 8 lb/side – 15 x 3
  • Triceps extension 8 lb – 15 x 3
  • Chest fly 8 lb/side – 15 x 3
  • Forearm plank – 1:15 (my newfound goal is 2:00 minutes by the end of the month!)
  • Scissor kicks – 20 x 2
  • Sit ups – 15 x 2

My arms were shaking by the end – it felt awesome!!

I got set to making a smoothie as soon as I got home with a banana, a huge handful of spinach, 1 cup of mixed berries, a few pieces of mango, 1 cup water, and 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed meal, all topped off with Bear Naked vanilla almond granola.

It more looks like granola atop a cupful of sludge, but it tasted fantastic!

You know I have NEVER tried zumba before but I want to so bad. I am sooooo uncoordinated though I’d have to hide in the back of the room.

I definitely did at first, but slowly started making my way closer to the front. I’m certain I look ridiculous most of the time, but if the 60+ crowd can rock it out in the front, I sure can too!
