turning tables.

in Last Week's Workouts

Before we go any further, I have to share my new musical obsession:  Adele.  I am completely addicted to her latest album, 21.  Her voice is fan-freaking-tastic!  Stop what you’re doing and go buy the album.  It’s okay, I’ll still be here when you get back.  Thank me later.

Gwyneth gave her best shot at one of Adele’s tunes (Turning Tables) on Glee last week, Turning Tables.  Gwyneth has nothing on this voice. Nothing.

Moving on.

breakfast.

My blackberries were reaching their last days, so I dumped all of what I had left into a yogurt mess for breakfast with vanilla Chobani, rolled oats, and chia seeds.  Don’t they look so yummy?!

workouts.

Last week:

  • Sunday:  I did one of Bob Harper’s DVDs for some yoga
  • Monday:  I got out of work late and missed Zumba, but did a great strength training session
  • Tuesday:  I had a 4 miler plan, but ended up doing a 2 mile run
  • Wednesday – Saturday:  sidelined (read: miserable) with allergies

This week’s goals/plans:

  • running: Actually do it! I’m shooting for 10-15 miles this week!
  • strength: Continue with the 100 push up challenge, plus 1 upper body and 1 lower body session
  • yoga: Practice 1-2 times

Although I have mileage on my training plan, I don’t know that I’ll stick to that.  I’ve run a grand total of 2.0 miles in the past month.  I’m going to just listen to my body and do what I can.

Let’s be real – the training has not gone well thus far for my May races.  I have a 10K in less than two weeks and a 25K the week after that.  I’m not too worried about the 10K (knock on wood), but the 25K is another story.  I’m definitely playing that one by ear.  Right now, my game plan is to see how the next couple of weeks, particularly the 10K go and decide from there.  I may end up dropping down to a shorter race, but we’ll see.  Right now, I still have my heart completely set on the 15.5 miles that almost defeated me last year.

My new motto?  One mile at a time.

Oh, and the Easter bunny found its way to my office over the weekend!  What a pleasant surprise for a Monday morning!

I am so not sharing with my co-workers.  Selfish?  Perhaps.  Do I care?  Nope.  😉
