time to celebrate.

Practically as soon as I walked in the door coming home from the airport, I had to turn around and leave to meet my dad and stepmom at Mangiamo! for dinner to celebrate the race.

Originally, the plan was to do this dinner after I PR’ed the 5k last Saturday, but schedules just didn’t match up, so we made plans for tonight.  It ended up working out really well because I knew if I sat still for too long once I got home, I was going to crash.  Travel + racing + a couple crazy early mornings = a very exhausted Mindy!

For the most part, I had the same meal as the last time I was at Mangiamo! earlier this month, with one delicious addition at the end.

I started out ordering a beer, but quickly changed my mind when I saw the chocolate martini on the menu and remembered how amazing that was the last time.

I also got an order of the two napkin garlic bread for us all to share.  I don’t know that you can really call it sharing though, when I eat half of it.

For my main dish, I had the herbed pappardelle which is one of the few vegetarian friendly options they actually have (beyond the basic pasta and marinara sauce combo that I could make at home for a lot cheaper!).  Plus, it’s so freaking amazing!

I stopped after eating half not because I was full, but because I wanted to save room for dessert!  I had tiramisu on the brain and I wasn’t leaving until I had some!  It was so good that I may have contemplated licking the plate clean.  And in all actuality, I came about as close to that as I could without actually going that far.

So, some people carb-load the day before the race and eat a lot of the day of, but me?  I do it all the day after the race.

It’s how I roll.

Back to reality in the morning!!

Congratulations on your race accomplishment and I would carbo load before, during and after so go right ahead! BTW, you motivated me to visit Mangiamos for those chocolate martinis and I’m not sure if I’ve ever had one better. Is RBR next for you? Don’t forget to visit the Girls on the Run charity tent that day. We love you!!!!

I’ve got the Tulip Time 10k on May 7, then RBR the following weekend! Plus, the Bayshore 10k up in Traverse City two weeks after that – May will be crazy!!
