I’ve gone back and forth for ages now on the best way to do goal setting, planning for the week ahead, etc.  You know, all of those things that help keep me focused on my journey, on healthy living, and on my weight loss goals.

It seems the natural time to look at the week ahead is Sunday, the day generally seen as the start of a new week.  It may seem like a random day to do so, but I’m declaring Thursday as my day one for each week.  Thursdays have long since been my weigh in day, dating back to September 2006 when I first got on the scale and my weight loss journey began.

Beyond that, setting goals for the month seems too large of a time span for me to focus on and truly succeed.  It’s sad that 30 days is too much, but the fact of the matter is that’s the true story.

So today, I begin a new effort.  Thursdays will become the day I look at the week gone by as well as the week ahead.  Thursdays will once again be the day I update my weight loss progress.  Thursdays will be the days I set my workout plans for the week.  Thursdays are the new Sundays.

weight loss.

last week:  168.0
this week:  166.4
total lost:  66.6

workout plans.

thursday:  run 1 mile + zumba
friday:  hot yoga
saturday:  rest day
sunday:  run 1 mile + elliptical 3 miles + {tentative yoga}
monday:  bike 5 miles + zumba
tuesday:  run 2 miles + powerflex
wednesday:  bike 10 miles


one:  track all of my points. every day. good or bad.
two:  drink at least 64 ounces of water a day.
three:  read one book.
four:  in bed + lights out by 11 every night.

I like Thursdays as the new Sundays. I’ll be with you on drinking 64+ oz. water; I really need to! It helped that last night I dreamed of drinking 6 cups of water in a row because I was so thirsty. When I woke up, I went through 2 water bottles full. Maybe my body is trying to tell me something… :).

I definitely need to be with you on drinking 64 ounces of water a day!
I also need to join you on the going to bed by 11 at the latest every night, I’m so exhausted at the moment!

Great job! My weigh in’s are Saturday mornings, so I always make a plan that goes from Saturday to Saturday 🙂
