Wan to know an added bonus of this house/dog-sitting gig? I got to read the newspaper! Yes, sometimes I like to be old fashioned and read the actual paper rather than the online stuff. When I got back after my ArtPrize adventure yesterday, I sat down to do some reading. (Slight confession: I didn’t get much past the front section with the big stories, the entertainment section, and the Target ad. I heart Target. A lot.) I was quite surprised to see the cover of the Parade magazine insert with Drew Carey on the cover.
I was shocked at how much weight he has lost! There was one quote in the article that really caught my attention:
“The hardest diet I was ever on was the one when I was fat…you can only wear fat clothes, you don’t feel good…you don’t have energy for anything. It’s horrible.”
So true! Being overweight is not fun at all. It’s exhausting. It wears on your self-esteem even if you think it doesn’t. It is not a fun way to live.
I think it’s great how open he was about he did it the right way, eating the right kinds of foods, exercising, the normal drill. It seems like fad diets are what is popular in Hollywood, so I think it’s great that Drew took the time to lose weigh in a way that is healthy and will create the right kinds of habits. It is tough to lose weight, but it can be easy to let it creep back on once you’ve lost it. Developing strong habits, learning to be active, fill the majority of your diet with wholesome, nutritious foods…it’s all so crucial!
Reading Drew’s story was definitely inspirational to help me knock off these last few pounds. Inspiration can come in the strangest of places sometimes!
This morning, I had the realization that when I had my idea to order a pizza Saturday night, thus providing food for the extent of my dog-sitting gig, I missed a crucial part of the equation: breakfast. Although my usual bagel place is actually on the way to work from their house, I really didn’t want one this morning. I know, I’m as shocked as you are! I racked my brain for a few minutes when I realized there is also a grocery store on the way!
I grabbed a Bolthouse Farms smoothie. I was craving something cold and fruity!
Although it hit the spot, it lacked the “stick to my ribs” lasting quality. I’m hungry again! Time to go find something more to fill my belly with!
Where is the most unexpected place you have found inspiration?
