the problem with long weekends.

The “problem” with extra long weekends?  They might be long, but they’re never long enough!  Beyond that, sleeping in for five days straight?  Getting out of bed that first day back to reality is rough and it really doesn’t help when you’re awake, tossing and turning, until 2ish in the morning.  It’s a “problem” I’d gladly take on more often.

Thankfully, coffee is my friend.  😉

I’m determined to add more strength training to my exercise routines, beyond the once a week Powerflex class I attend.  I know that using weights that little (although it is better than nothing!), isn’t going to help me increase my muscle mass over the long haul.  So when I was at the gym last night, I spent some time trying out the machines that I usually avoid.  I didn’t go too heavy on any of them, largely because I didn’t want to overdo it the first time out.  What I did, though, was definitely enough that I can feel it a bit today!  It gets me motivated!

I had a lazy simple dinner last night.  I wasn’t overly hungry, and had some yogurt to use up.  Enter, pumpkin yogurt (canned pumpkin + vanilla Chobani) with some pumpkin granola and chia seeds.

Plus, with a lazy smaller dinner, I could save room for later on!  I had such a craving for popcorn all day yesterday!  I sprinkled some nutritional yeast and grated Parmesan cheese on, along with some butter and salt.  It completely hit the spot!

I was super hungry this morning – I blame my stomach stretch from all the Thanksgiving eating!  I ended up having cereal (Uncle Sam’s strawberry plus Honey Nut Cheerios) and toast, but it kept me full all morning which is what I was going for.

Speaking of Thanksgiving eating, I was somewhat dreading how it all affected me weight wise.  I know I ate a lot more that usual this weekend, and a lot of foods I don’t usually eat.  I’m trying really hard to take the focus off the scale and get back into only weighing myself once a week, because weight isn’t everything.  Still, I got on the scale this morning just to have an idea of where I was at after the holiday (and all the pumpkin pie!).  I was pleasantly surprised that I was the same as my last weigh in.  Onwards we go!

Lunch was still more chili.  I swear to you, that stuff multiplies in the fridge!

I think I’ve only got one serving left after this.  As delicious as it was, I’m bored with it.  In hindsight, I really should have frozen some.  Which is what I planned to do…it just never happened.  Maybe that one last serving will find its way to the freezer, all by its lonesome.

Anyone finding any good Cyber Monday deals out there?  I was hoping for a great Canon Rebel offer, but no luck.  Which is good, because I really don’t have a ton saved for one yet and I just would have spent money I shouldn’t on a camera.  Dear family (or any other kind and generous soul who may read this and take pity on me!), there’s my Christmas list in a nutshell!

Mkay, time to get back to work!
