the funniest complaint department ever.

I was up a little after 5 am this morning so I could be on the road in time to be at the hospital by 6:45.  I really wanted to see my dad before he went into surgery and be there for him!  Everything went really well, although he did end up with a post-op migraine, so they’re keeping him overnight.  Thank you so, so much to everyone who sent well wishes and prayers – please know it was so deeply appreciated!

The biggest laugh of the day definitely came from the “3 West Complaint Department” at the hospital.

Ready and waiting to serve your needs!

Heh.  I cracked up.

The not so great part about sitting around a hospital?  Eating cafeteria food.  In the grand scheme of things, they actually had a pretty decent cafeteria, so it wasn’t terrible – just not super vegetarian friendly.  I can always find something to eat though.

They serve the same coffee that my college had and it brought back so many memories!  I spent a good chunk of change at Java City during my undergrad years – it fueled me through many, many late night cramming last minute paper writing study sessions.

After Dad got out of surgery and was up in his room resting, we headed back down to the cafeteria for lunch.

I finally headed out a little after 2pm so I could get back and take care of the pups.  I spent some time reading and ultimately ended up napping as well.  I was really tempted when I woke up to skip my workout.  But, I didn’t – and I’m so glad!  I grabbed a LUNA bar for a quick “dinner” on my way out the door and got my booty to the gym!

I ran 3.0 miles in 31:46 (10:35 pace).  I really tried to push myself to run as much as I could – I stopped to walk and get water twice (1 minute each) and finished with a sprint at a 8:34 pace!  It was only for a minute, but hey, that’s better than nothing!  I wrapped up with 25 or 30 minutes of weight and core work before calling it a day.  I felt awesome!

I’m trying not to run two days in a row because it’s too hard on my knee – but I won’t be able to do my long run this weekend, so I’m going to attempt it tomorrow.  I’m going to take it slow and steady, and take however long I need to take.  Long runs are supposed to be done a little slower, anyhow, right?! 😉
