Ah, Saturday, how I love thee!  It was especially nice knowing that it was my second day of the weekend – and one more to go!  I ended up sleeping in a bit – I was awake a little after 9 am, but lounged around for almost an hour.

Once I did get up and moving, it was time to get ready for the long run!  I had some pre-run fuel of sunflower seed butter toast with cinnamon and white chocolate chips.

I met up with Andi at the Y today – I had 11.0 miles on the agenda.  I didn’t get there.  I got to 8.0 and had nothing left in me.  I broke it up into 2 sections – first was 5.0 miles in 56:44 (11:21 pace).  After this, I got some more water, took a Gu, and got back at it.  I finished off with 3.0 miles in 36:05 (12:02 pace).  I tried to get the total I had planned but I just couldn’t do it.  For having only run 2.0 miles total this week, it was pretty good.  I really need to kick it into high gear with the half marathon just three weeks again!!

You know it’s a good run when you throw up afterward.  Yep, it happened.  In the parking lot of CVS.  Sorry, CVS shoppers – at least I made it back behind the dumpster.  Okay, TMI moment officially over…and moving on…

I was in desperate need of getting sugar into my system, so I grabbed a package of orange slices and a Gatorade.  Over the course of a couple hours, I definitely dominated the bag of candy.  My roommates and I made progress in getting the kitchen put away and organized.  It’s finally starting to look more like a house and less like a house exploded!

Tonight, some of my family got together to celebrate a couple birthdays:  my mom and my uncle’s girlfriend, Mary.  We went to Mangiamo, one my favorite places in Grand Rapids.

I started out with a chocolate martini.  It was strong, but really good!

As you should at any good Italian restaurant, we started out with some garlic bread for the table to share.  I had 3 pieces with my house salad. The bread was so good, I could have eaten a lot more.  I can always eat more bread.  Yum!

My main dish was the herbed artichokes, oven roasted tomatoes, asparagus, lemon, extra virgin olive oil, roasted garlic, olive relish.

I definitely ate far more that I should have!  All of a sudden, it just all hit my belly like a rock!

I gave my mom her birthday present tonight – tickets for her and I to go see Bill Cosby next weekend!  How fun will that be?!  All in all, it was a great and busy day.  I will sleep well tonight!
