so much to celebrate.

Today, I ventured down to my sister Nicki’s house in Battle Creek where my mom’s entire side of the family was getting together – all 18 (soon to be 19!) of us.  We had so much to celebrate including four birthdays (including Grandma’s 90th!), an engagement (my uncle), and a pregnancy (my cousin).  God has blessed us so much and I couldn’t be more thankful for all the good things happening.

Such a celebration deserves pretty flowers, don’t you think?

We had a champagne (sparking grape juice for the pregnant and underage) toast for all the wonderful blessings.

I finally got to meet the newest addition to the family:  Norman!  Nicki and her family recently added a fur baby Saint Bernard puppy to their clan.  He’s too cute for words!

He gives good puppy kisses!

Aren’t my nieces beautiful?  I love, love, love being Aunt Mindy!

Grandma loves the munchkins as much as I do!  Probably more.  It appears that I really can’t call them munchkins much longer though.  They’re growing up so fast!

Dinner was ridiculously delicious.  I had a little of everything.  Well, almost everything – no ham or Jell-o for this girl!  I had some salad, asparagus, green bean casserole (my contribution!), a cinnamon roll (a family tradition!), and some mashed taters.

We got cake from Ryke’s a bakery out in Muskegon.  It is, hands down, amongst the best cake you will ever have in your life.  No joke.

True story:  for my high school graduation open house, we got a full size sheet cake from Ryke’s.  I successfully carried it from the car into the building we were having the party.  Awhile later, I tried to move it from one table to another – it couldn’t have been more than four or five feet – it slipped in my hands and folded in half!  My beautiful cake had a big crater right down the middle!  I can laugh about it now, but at the time, I was crushed!  Tears were shed.

Fortunately, no cake catastrophes today (and yes, I did carry the cake at one point).

I had an edge piece (because then there’s more frosting!) and some Superman ice cream.

As much as I love spending time with my family, I had to cut out early because there were pups waiting for their dinner!
