Spring made a brief appearance in West Michigan, but winter is returning with a vengeance today. The snow has only been falling for an hour or so, and the roads are already really, really nasty. Forecasts are for lots of snow and around 1/4″ of ice or more. Winter can go away any time. Seriously.
This morning, you could see the grass. Now, it’s a winter wonderland again.
On the days that I run a lot, my appetite does one of two things: I eat everything in sight or I’m not hungry at all. Last night, it was the latter. My gargantuan breakfast may have played a part in that. There was an avocado on the counter in it’s last days, so I took advantage of it and mixed up a bowl of guacamole. I used the whole avocado, half a tomato, a small clove of garlic, a bit of cilantro, and a pinch of salt. I ate it up with some blue corn tortilla chips.
I started watching Me and Orson Welles on Netflix last night but it’s kind of slow and I got bored. I tried to go to bed early, but it was one of those nights that as soon as I turned the lights off, I was wide awake. It was well after midnight by the time I finally dozed off.
I went to the 11 am service at church, so it was a nice and lazy morning of lounging around. Perfect.
Before I left, I had a bowl of cereal: all Kashi, but half Heart to Heart and half Honey Sunshine. Topped off with almond milk. Yum. I have a ton of cereal I want to eat up before I move, but seeing as how moving day is a week from today (!!), it looks like I’ll be bringing some boxes with me.
Church was great this morning. The worship team played their “instruments” using apps they downloaded on their iPads and iPod Touch. The only actual instruments used were the ukulele and mandolin. Plus, I think my church is the only place that would use the instrumentals from Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” for a song about Jesus. Priceless. Peter Rollins was our guest teacher today and I always find his Irish accent so distracting from the teaching. In a really good way. I love, love, love accents.
After church, I headed to my house for a bit to do some packing. I’ve got a good chunk of it done at this point. Next Saturday, I’ll finish up and Sunday is moving day. (Dear Mother Nature…if the weather could not suck next Sunday like it does today, that’d be great. Thanks.).
On the very short drive back to where I’m house sitting, I almost got in two accidents and fishtailed around a couple corners. The roads are nasty and I’m quite content staying in the rest of the day! Movies + books + coffee = a lovely Sunday afternoon.
I had a craving for a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch so I made that with colby jack cheese. I chopped up a red pepper on the side. With hummus. Because hummus makes a meal just a bit better than it already was.
I think a Gilmore Girls marathon just might be calling my name! See y’all later!
What’s your favorite way to spend the day when it’s nasty weather outside?
