simply be.

Fact:  your first run after 3.5 weeks of not running is going to be hard, especially when it’s about 35 degrees and the wind gusts are around 30 mph.

I had 4.0 miles on my training plan, but I got to 2.0 and that was all I had in me.  I know I’ll build my endurance back up pretty quickly, but it was a bit disheartening to go from finishing a half marathon to struggling through a couple miles.

  • Mile 1:  10:38
  • Mile 2:  12:05

So, it wasn’t quite the run I was hoping for, but it did feel good to get back out there and my knee seems to be holding up pretty well.  I had an average pace of 11:22.  It’s better than nothing, no?

Once I got home, all I wanted was something warm!  I got really cold once I stopped moving.  I’ve never really been a fan of oatmeal – the texture just gets to me! – but for whatever reason, it’s what sounded good tonight.

To 3/4 cup of oatmeal, I added 2 tbsp sunflower seed butter, 1 tbsp cacao nibs, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and a few cinnamon chips.

It was definitely not as terrible as I remembered and I could potentially learn to enjoy it, but for now, it’s still not my favorite thing in the world.  It did warm me up though, which was really the ultimate goal!

Also, I loved the quote on my Yogi tea tonight:  the best way of life is to be, simply be.

Time for a new episode of Glee!!  I’ve missed my New Directions kids!  Reruns just aren’t the same!
