As a big fan of Tina’s blog, Carrots ‘N’ Cake, I was really excited to hear she was releasing a book by the same name:  Carrots ‘N’ Cake:  Healthy Living One Carrot and Cupcake at a Time.

Much like her daily blog, Tina’s book is an insight into her life, both how she got to where she is today and snippets of her everyday life.  Since it is a book form, each chapter goes a bit more in depth than a typical blog post.  Yet, because she’s so relatable, it feels more like I’m sitting down for a cup of coffee with an old friend rather than reading a book.  Tina is very open and conversational in her writing style.  She shows how to live a healthy lifestyle, but still have indulgences and eat the foods you love.  Her emphasis is all about moderation:  eat your cupcake, but get a few veggies in, too.

I most appreciate Tina’s honesty throughout the book, everything from her struggles with binging and not always living up to the “healthy living blogger” title to sharing her story of why she had a breast reduction.  Stories like that are not always easy to open up about, but I love that she was willing to discuss it and share that part of her journey.

Additionally, Tina shares a few of her favorite recipes at the end of each chapter (and the majority of them were ones that I couldn’t wait to try!).

Carrots ‘N’ Cake is an easy, enjoyable read and one that I’m so glad I picked up!
