Here’s the thing…you know you’re a runner when you’re sore and aching and somewhat miserable from under-training for a big race…and you still can’t wait to get out and run again.  Truth.

Despite that desire to run, I have felt pretty useless and sloth-like today.

I didn’t set an alarm last night and just let myself sleep until I woke up this morning, which ended up being just before 10 am.  So, I ended up getting close to 12 hours of sleep!  I had just enough time to get ready and get out the door for church.

I toyed with not going to the service, but I’m glad I did as it was a great sermon.  Plus, Rob taught for the first time in a few weeks and I love, love, love when he does the teaching.  Next week is our annual baptism service and the week after that, I’ll be up north in Traverse City for a 10k and some family time with my dad and stepmom.  So, going was the right decision.

Once I got home, I read for a bit and ended up falling asleep for another few hours.  My body is definitely in recovery mode!  I felt like a train wreck once I woke up!  I was horribly dehydrated, feeling caffeine withdraws since I haven’t had coffee since Friday (who am I?!), and hadn’t eaten nearly enough (the half a bagel at church wasn’t cutting it).

I got to quick work getting food and water into my system, and it made such a difference!  A random combination of a grilled cheese and a smoothie were just what I needed:  a good mix of some carbs, some protein, some fruits and veggies.

My legs are still hurting, but much better than they were yesterday.  Last night, I had to slide down the stairs to the first floor of my house on my butt because no matter how hard I tried, I was not walking down them!  It was a sight.  Today, I can at least walk down them somewhat normally, so that’s progress!  I’m still more dehydrated than I would like, but it’s getting better.
