positive outcomes only.

Today, my little corner of the blog world turns one year old.  When I started writing on May 17, 2010, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.  But, what I found is a community that I love and cherish.  A community that is there to encourage and cheer and say a few kind words when I need to hear them.  A community that I’ve learned so much from.  I didn’t start writing expecting anyone to read.  Yet, the fact that people do astounds me every single day.  Thank you for taking the time to read my words, for being a part of this journey, for allowing me to be a part of a community that I have grown to love so deeply.

Here’s to another year!

Last night, I was catching up on Hellcats, which is probably my favorite new show of this season (and I’m so bummed it’s on the potential chopping block for The CW! Please don’t cancel it!).  At this critical scene, Marti, played by Aly Michalka from Disney’s Phil of the Future (did anyone else love that show?!), is a student advocate for one of her teammates on the cheerleading squad and gave a fantastic speech about the qualities of her friend.

Positive outcomes only. That’s Savannah Monroe’s mantra.  She sees the positive in everything, in everyone.  It starts off annoying but quickly becomes contagious.  You stand next to this woman, you can’t help being affected by her hope, her optimism, her wild enthusiasm for what comes next.  Doubt is everywhere today.  Doubt becomes cynicism, which influences what we do, how we feel about each other and ourselves.  It colors our interactions, but not Savannah’s…Savannah believes every tomorrow is better than today, and every day we all become a little better than the day before.

I love this.

I love the idea of positive outcomes only and trying to find the best in every situation, in every person.  It’s not always easy and sometimes, let’s be honest, it’s damn hard.  But, sometimes, that little glimmer of hope, of positivity, is just enough to make a bad day a little brighter.

Breakfast was a light one because I know it’s going to be a big lunch today.  Just an Everything Bagel Thin with strawberry cream cheese.

Yum.

I’m traveling for work today, so I should probably hit the road!  Have a great one.

I have just recently found your blog, but I just wanted to say I LOVE this post! I adopted this philosophy years ago after my father passed away. It was under really sad circumstances but I am grateful that I developed a deep and sincere appreciation for how precious life really is. I keep a gratitude journal, I share inspiring quotes, when people are having a rough time, I help them see all the positive. It comes really naturally for me now and I have had so many people comment on how refreshing it is to hear someone be happy. Good luck applying this idea to your life~ all of it! It will change your world! 🙂

Thanks for commenting Jess! I love the idea of a gratitude journal, that’s awesome – I just might have to start something like that!
