office supplies bring out my inner nerd.

So…how about Glee last night?!  First, I love, love, love that it was lots of music from West Side Story!  I just have to throw my two cents out there because I know it’s an episode that’s raised a bit of controversy.

It was all about the “First Time” (as the episode is aptly titled) for two of the power couples on the show – Rachel and Finn, Kurt and Blaine.  Obviously, addressing teenage sex can be controversial enough, although it’s pretty commonly portrayed on television these days.  But, throw in a gay couple in there and the sh*t hits the fan.  Do I think they were gutsy for approaching it?  Absolutely, but I applaud the writers of Glee for taking on big, uncomfortable topics.  Whatever someone’s personal views and ideas on such issues are, the fact of the matter is they tackled very real issues in this episode.  They could have just as easily avoided them, but these are very real things that real people – yes, even teens – think about and experience, no matter what one’s sexual orientation is.  I think they did a really great job of filming and approaching it in a very sweet, emotional, honest manner.  Also, they showed nothing, so it does leave a bit to the imagination about what actually happened.  What I appreciate even more though, is that (while I think they haven’t always done this), in this episode I felt like they tried to make a point that sex is a big deal and not something to take lightly.

If you watched last night’s episode, what’d you think?  I’d love to hear other thoughts!

Anyways.

This morning I threw together some overnight oats, except I ate them half an hour later.  The mix didn’t set super well, but mixed with a “baked” apple (topped with cinnamon and agave, then microwaved for about 1:30), it was great!

I am a big nerd when it comes to office supplies.  Growing up, I always loved going back to school because it meant new pens, fresh notebooks, fun new folders, and so on.  Even now, I still love going into the school supplies section when it rolls out in the summer.

Imagine my excitement when Office Max came to my building today and a bunch of vendors were giving us samples of all their latest and greatest products!  Not to mention, many of them were earth friendly!  Pens made out of old water bottles?  Pens that will decompose after you throw them out?  Freaking awesome.

Me = far too excited about all of my new office supplies.

We had a catered lunch meeting today for work today, and I was extremely thankful there was salad and fruit because the main chicken dish was not working for me.  Obviously.

I also ended up having two small rolls and a peanut butter cookie.

The highlight of my day thus far?  Free office supplies.  The low?  I took my car in because it’s been super shaky when I brake (and with winter coming up, I don’t want to take a chance with my brakes).  $350+ later, I have new rotors and brake pads on my front tires.  That, on top of the $350 I spent a week and a half ago for an oil change, transmission fluid change, and a couple other things, my car is killing my bank account!

Question of the day:  if you could start a business (money isn’t an issue), what would it be?  I would either open a bookstore/coffee shop or a Lululemon!

I loved how they handled the sex issue last night. It was sweet, and open ended. And sex is one of those realities of being a teen.

But man.. Santana KILLED it!
