nutritional value is important.

Did you see Caitlin’s appearance on the Today Show this morning? If you missed it, watch the segment! Caitlin is an inspiration to so many people, including myself.

I know I’m guilty of Fat Talk, I caught myself doing it this afternoon. But, we are all so much more than our weight or clothing size. I love that Operation Beautiful encourages people to recognize that!

Today’s lesson of the day: food really does fuel the body. Yes, I did actually know this before, but my food choices for the day reiterated it. I started out on the right foot with my Kashi. But, then it slowly went downhill from there, beginning with a piece of cinnamon-swirl bread. I have a hard time resisting cinnamon-y goodness. Especially when combined with bread.

For lunch, I ventured out to support Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day. It’s their annual event where $1 for every Blizzard purchased goes to the Children’s Miracle Network. I got a mint Oreo Blizzard and it was so delicious!

I did have some veggies at an afternoon reception for work. I had some cucumbers, peppers, carrots, and zucchini.

I had a second similar plate. Yet, the fact that this and perhaps my morning cereal were the only things I had with any real nutritional value today may have been my downfall at the gym.

It was such a hard run! After 1.6 miles (18 minutes, 11:15 pace) I was spent. It really is amazing how properly fueling your body does make a difference. It completely shows me how important those nutrients and vitamins really are, not just in exercise but for overall health and well-being.

I’m heading out of town tonight for a couple days. I’m going back to my hometown for the annual Coast Guard Festival which is just an epic weekend and by far the weekend I look forward to all summer long. Yes, there really is a whole festival for the Coast Guard, and rightfully so. The men and women that serve our country deserve to be honored and celebrated! While I’m home, Internet access will be hit or miss, so if I don’t get to post while I’m home, there will be a full recap on Sunday.

I hope you have so much fun at the coast guard event. I loved Caitlyn’s segment this morning and I’m excited to meet her in person. Nutrition is very important, but so is treating yourself, and that blizzard looks delicious!
