It has been almost two weeks since I last blogged, which I’m pretty sure is the longest break I’ve taken since I started writing this little corner of the Internets. In the midst of moving and getting settled into my new apartment, school, #HLS13 planning, and what have you, I could only do so much with the day. It was kind of refreshing to step back for a minute, but now that I’m moved in and unpacked, I’m anxious to get life back to a normal rhythm.
I thought I’d share a little about what life has looked like these past couple of weeks.
the new digs.
I’m living out in the suburbs of Grand Rapids now, which is kind of sad. I really loved living in the city, but it just didn’t pan out. I’ve got a pretty lovely apartment that I’m enjoying. I’ve got a bunch of really great trails and running areas nearby, and a Chipotle just down the road. I worked really hard to get as much as I could unpacked the day I moved, and I’m really pleased with how quickly things came together. The good thing about moving every year or two is that it’s easy to keep your possessions fairly minimal. I’ve got a desk for the first time in years, and I set up a nice little office area for myself. One of the first things I hung up was my medal rack. Because, you know, priorities.
friday night lights.
I am totally addicted to Friday Night Lights right now! When I wasn’t feeling great last weekend, I had a mini-marathon and watched a bunch of the first season. I need to swing by the library this week and pick up season two! I can’t believe I never got into this show when it was originally on. I watched a few episodes of Bunheads, a current ABC Family show, but just couldn’t get into it. I love that they have Sutton Foster, who is well known in the Broadway world, as a lead on that show, though. It’s from the same executive producer as Gilmore Girls and there is a lot of casting overlap which is a bit off-putting.
More on this in tomorrow’s weekly (or in this case, week x2) recap, but training has been a major struggle lately. I’ve missed my past two long runs due to horrible headaches – migraines last weekend, sinuses this past – that have left me feeling knocked down. The runs that I have gotten in have been far from awesome. The marathon is less than two months away and I’ve got some serious ground to cover – literally and figuratively – if I’m going to cross that finish line happy and healthy. I know it’s possible, but it’s #noexcuses from here on out.
I’m just about 3/4 of the way through my program and it’s been great so far. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with my health coach certification when all is said and done, but I’d love to have a few clients as some supplemental income.
I am getting super pumped for this year’s Summit! I’ve had the honor of helping plan this year’s event and it’s been really fun. I’ve got the task of planning the “fit mingles” which are fitness activities for attendees to do in smaller groups, making it a little easier for people to get to know each other. I’m really looking forward to seeing old friends again, meeting some new friends, and exploring a new city. Any can’t miss recommendations in Minneapolis?
I spent the weekend with my sister and her family’s pup, Rodney, while they were having fun without me. They’re at the lake, soaking up some last bits of summer, and I’m home with the dog. I think they got the better end of that deal, eh? In all seriousness, he’s a really great dog and is always so excited to see me, which is not such a bad deal. Plus, it was a chance to get some laundry done.
So, there’s some bits and pieces about my life these days.
