let’s get back on track (seriously).

Well, hello!  Life has been busy the past 24 hours, full of (mostly) fun stuff!  Rewinding to yesterday afternoon, someone brought in a plate of brownies as a “thank you” for my department.  No, thank you.

Delicious.

Last night, I went out for dinner and drinks with some of the other leaders from Anthem.  Since we’re off for the summer, a few of us thought it would be fun to still hang out, just as leaders, on a regular basis.  Last night, we went to On the Border.  I had an Oberon the size of my face (seriously, it was far larger than I anticipated!) and some guacamole live.

For the guacamole live, they make it right at your table!  It costs a couple extra dollars, but I think it tastes remarkably better and much more fresh!  Well worth the extra money!

I munched on some chips and salsa throughout the evening as well.  Yum.

By the time I got home, I was beat!  I finished up the load of laundry I started before I left the house and crashed into bed.  I slept like a rock, but I still wasn’t in bed as early as I hoped I would be.  Mornings are getting progressively harder to deal with!

I was less than thrilled when I got on the scale for this week’s weigh in this morning.

last weigh in: 162.4 | this week: 165.4 | change: +3.0 | overall: -67.6

I’m trying not to get too down about it though.  I know I ate a lot of saltier foods this week (popcorn at the Glee finale on Tuesday, lots of chips last night), plus I’ve had soda a few times and all that adds up.  Not only that, but I know the ups and downs are going to happen.  What does get to me though is that it’s a higher number than I’ve seen in a really long time.

It’s time to get my act together if I really want to see the results.  I have nobody to blame except for myself and I’m the only one that can make it happen.

In hopes of getting back on track, I had a smoothie for breakfast made with a banana, 1 cup of frozen mixed berries, 1 cup soy milk, a scoop of protein powder, and a big handful of spinach.

Later in the morning, throwing this morning’s weigh in and get your act together pep talk out the window, I had a red velvet cupcake.  It’s all about moderation, right?

Lunch was nothing too special, just a peanut butter and honey sandwich and a caramel marvel from Biggby.  Yet another treat I probably should have forgone.  I fail at this.

And now, it’s time to get back on track.  Seriously.  Hold me accountable, friends!

Getting back on track is hard! Try to commit to one more workout– jog or elliptical– before the 10K on Saturday. It will make you feel stronger and probably give you a boost for the race!

And avoid those sweets 😉

Yeah, I’m planning on hitting the Y tomorrow morning! As for the sweets…if only I could have my sweet tooth extracted! I have GOT to get that under control!

Those darn office treats – they get me every time too! Lately I’ve been trying to stick with the 1 treat a day motto… so if someone brings in donuts and I want to have one, that kind of rules out the sugary coffee drink afternoon treat and the potato chips while watching TV. I thought it would be easy but it’s tough! It’s a good reminder though that most treats will be around again and again and again (e.g. – dounts, cupcakes, brownies at the office or sugary coffee drinks).

I used to be SO good with that…and have clearly since strayed! I think being aware AND being ready/wanting to change are two key steps; I’ve got both of those down, so I’m determined to do well!

I am right there with you. I can’t seem to get things under control lately! I’ll put on a few pounds and then go eat a bunch of dessert! I don’t know what it is…I thought that posting weigh-ins would help hold me accountable but it’s epically failing.

Somehow I feel as though I’ve gotten worse since I started posting weigh-ins! Stay strong, girl, we’ll get there!

It’s so funny because this seems to be everybody’s theme (including mine!) right now! Seems everyone has hit that May slump and is struggling with staying the course. You can do it! Keep up the good work and resist the sweets! SO hard to do I know!

Thanks Bree! It’s tough but I just have to remember that the sacrifice is worth it in the end!
