I don’t talk about it too much here on the blog, but if you’ve read my posts from the last week or follow me on Twitter, you may have picked up on the fact that I’m a baseball fan.

I love several teams but I’m fiercely loyal to my Tigers.  Even when they have their usual season of starting off really great then slowly losing steam as the months pass.

I went to my first major league game when I was a kid.  My sister, Nicki, was living in Chicago at the time, so on a visit down with my mom and grandma, we went to a White Sox game.  As such, my Chicago baseball loyalties will forever be with the White Sox over the Cubs.

I don’t remember much about the game itself, but I vividly remember being so upset that I couldn’t get one of the hats they were giving away at the gates because I wasn’t one of the first however many people to enter.  It had a Miller Lite logo on the side and since I was (obviously) not 21, they wouldn’t let me have one!  My mom or grandma, I don’t remember which, gave me hers.  I wore that hat all. the. time.  I was so sad when I lost it!

My second pro game was three years ago when I was living in California; we drove up to San Francisco for a Giants game.

I love fall for several reasons (coughpumpkincough) but one high on the list is the Major League Baseball postseason!  What teams are playing affects my excitement for the postseason and this year is a good one!

Thanks in large part to my Wisconsin friends, I’m excited for the Milwaukee Brewers and can’t help but root for them.  But, dear Wisconsin friends, if it comes down to a Tigers/Brewers World Series, my excitement for your team ends there, at least until 2012.  I love the Phillies (which, in all honesty, I think that alliance comes from years of watching Cory Matthews get excited about them on Boy Meets World).

The highlight of this year’s postseason, though, is only are the Tigers playing, last night they officially ended the New York Yankees 2011 season!  Don’t get me wrong, I actually love the Yankees.  Just not when they’re playing the Tigers.

I am so proud of my Tigs!  They played a great game last night (starting with back-to-back home runs in the first inning!) and I can’t wait to see them take on the Texas Rangers!

The problem with the postseason, though?  I don’t get nearly enough sleep!  I’ve been up past midnight three nights this week watching the games!  It’s a sacrifice, but I’m not complaining too much!

Legends are born in October.

The Tigers have (almost) never done me wrong (the exception was when they traded away Curtis Granderson :(). I got to go to one game a few summers ago where Granderson made this amazing catch over the fence, stealing away a home run. I also was lucky enough to go to a playoff game in 2006 – http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=261006106. It was awesome!!! Kenny Rogers stole the show that night!

Anyway, you are also awesome for your love the Brewers and Phillies. Those are the other 2 teams we are cheering for here – especially the Phillies because Chris grew up in south Jersey and is a huge fan. 🙂
