January 2017 Goals

Only two days into 2017 and I am fired up for this year. I know, that’s an easy attitude to have this early in the game. I don’t care, because I feel like this year is going to be amazing. Even more, I am determined to put in the work and make it amazing. Yesterday, I wrote about my goals for the year. Although I haven’t entirely committed to monthly goals in the past, I know the power in that approach. Each month, my plan is to re-evaluate my goals for the year and my progress. From that, I will create monthly goals that push me towards the (both literal and figurative) finish line.

My primary focus for this month is to get back to a consistent fitness routine. It’s been a sporadic, at best, priority over the last year and if a PR at the Chicago Marathon is a main goal, I need to get back on track. The important thing will be a focus on consistency, while not doing too much too soon. I know my body well enough to know that’s a recipe for injury and I am determined to keep my body healthy this year!

My health and fitness goals for January 2017:
+ Lose 5 pounds
+ Swim 3 times
+ Bike 100 miles
+ Run 30 miles
+ Take 6 yoga classes
+ Finish Level 1 of BODYSHRED
+ Average 10,000 steps a day (a total of 310,000 steps)

My business and finance goals for January 2017:
+ Pay off $500 in debt
+ Post 12 blog posts
+ Rewrite my about me page (according to that page, I’m 30 years old, so it’s been awhile)
+ Increase social media followers by 5%

My personal development and life goals for January 2017:
+ Read 6 books (I started Amy Schumer’s The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo last night which I’m loving so far!)
+ Read the Gospels
+ Write thank you notes for my Christmas gifts
+ Floss daily

Tomorrow, I return to the real world after eleven days off for the holidays, and as much as I loved the staycation, I’m ready to get back to a routine. Can someone remind me of that when my alarm goes off bright and early? It may be a rude awakening. I know myself well enough to know that I thrive best when I’ve got a schedule to follow, and I think that will be extraordinarily important as I work towards my goals for the year!

Thanks, Jessica! I used to be SUPER consistently with flossing and it’s a habit I’ve fallen away from lately, but I need to get back to it! Happy 2017!
