ignoring the rules.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve done a bit of a running no-no with my training.  The general rule is to only increase your mileage by 10% each week, right?  Well, I went from single digits for several weeks with 9.5 miles total a couple weeks ago.  Last week I was at 17.5 and this week I’m on track to have over 20.  Really, “a bit” is probably a vast understatement.  It’s more like ignoring that rule of thumb completely.

I know it’s not the smartest move on my part, I had a really hard time getting back into the running groove (apparently signing up for a half freaking marathon wasn’t enough motivation?!) and a week where I was crazy sick.  Now that I’m healthy, motivated, and ready to rock and roll, the mileage is jumping like crazy.  It increases a bit more steadily (and slower) from now until half marathon day.

So far, so good injury wise.  Knock on wood.

breakfast.

I was really excited for breakfast this morning.  All last week, during the Vegan for a Week Challenge, I really wanted my usual order from my bagel shop.  Although I did cheat a couple times, that was one thing I managed to resist the temptation.  Last night, though, the craving was back so I made sure to leave the house with enough time this morning to stop to grab a salsa pepperjack bagel with veggie cream cheese.

Completely hit the spot.  I know a lot of people say bagels don’t keep them full, but I was totally set until noon!

lunch.

In the ongoing effort to eat up the food I’ve got before I move next weekend, I grabbed a container of ranch chili out of the freezer.  Next time, I need to remember to put it in the fridge the night before because I definitely dominated the office microwave trying to unthaw it.

A few people had left their taco bar contributions in the fridge, so I made full use of what was there to add a bit of shredded cheese and sour cream to the bowl.

I’m so happy it’s Friday Eve!  Not to mention, it’s almost 50 degrees today!  I know we’re going to return to normal February weather soon enough, but I am absolutely loving this little taste of spring!
