I miss running.

I’m only three weeks into my self-imposed no running period and I’ve realized one thing:

I love, love, love running.

It’s hard as hell and sometimes in the midst of it, I would probably vehemently disagree with what I just said.  Actually, I guarantee it because it happens quite often.  Those questions of “why in the world am I putting myself through this?” roll through my mind as my lungs crave oxygen and my burning legs beg me to stop.

Sounds awesome when I put it that way, doesn’t it?  😉

But seriously though, not being able to run (or rather choosing not to run to let my knee heal and rest) as been a true reminder that I really do love it.  It’s a challenge and that’s part of what I love about it.  There’s nothing quite knowing you can push yourself through double digit runs or the joy of crossing a finish line.

Soon enough, I’ll be back to running, better and stronger than ever!

I stopped for a bagel this morning.  I know they’re pretty nutritionally void and far from the best breakfast choice I could make, but I love them.  Sorry I’m not sorry.

They usually put enough cream cheese for an army.  Today was the just the opposite and it was quite sparse.  Maybe next time it’ll be a happy medium?

I realized not long before it was time to leave work this afternoon that I forgot to eat lunch!  Who am I?!?  The bagel was apparently quite filling because it wasn’t even that I simply got so busy that I forgot, but I just wasn’t hungry.  It eventually caught up with me by the time I had this revelation because I started feeling gross.

I came home and polished off what was left of my new favorite snack, Planters NUT-trition energy mix.  Oh man, the superb mix of salty and sweet.  I ate the whole can in four sittings.

At least it was only eight servings in the whole thing, right?

Gotta go, Glee is on!  Idina Menzel is back tonight!!!

Chosing to heal shows your love for running. Otherwise you would run yourself into the ground and be done with it.

Been where you’re at and I’m praying for you. You’ll appreciate running so much more after this time off.

Isn’t that always the way it goes? When you need to run, you don’t want to. When you want to, you can’t.

BTW, I love bagels, but they are so terrible down in Florida. So when I’m up north, I eat 2-3 a day. No joke.

Ha ha, you look so happy in your picture of you racing. I know exactly what you are talking about. It seems I tend to be a much better person on days that I run than when I don’t. Thanks for your honesty. And now, I totally want a Bagal, too!

I’m a firm believer that bagels aren’t the devil. Consuming them the way I used to was bad, but I’m learning that everything in moderation really is the best way to go!!
