Well, my first “real” post after last week’s insanity, not counting last night’s quick update. This week might be busy, but nowhere near those epic proportions!

I started off the week on the right foot: boot camp, week two! On my way out the door, I grabbed a Luna bar. At 5 am, they’re perfect for me because, let’s be honest, by brain does not function at a high level that time of the morning! Grab and go, baby!

Class was tough this morning! There was a huge focus on upper body, primarily chest and shoulders, which is probably amongst my weakest. I know it’s important to focus on where I’m weak, but it makes for a tough workout!! I toughed it out though, and I’m proud!

As I was getting ready for work, I threw together a green monster! I am getting hooked on them!

My monster contained:

  • 1/2 frozen berries
  • 1 naner
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 handfuls spinach
  • 1 heaping tablespoon Vega Tropical Tango

I got a full size pouch of Vega at the Health Living Summit last month and I’ve been wanting to try it. I love that it was developed by a vegan triathlete! It’s chock full of lots of goodness like omegas, protein, and a serving even has two full serving of veggies!

Confession: I wish I had kept waiting to try it. I was not a huge fan. I found the taste to be overpowering and a bit off, and it added a bit of a funky consistency. I managed to eat about 3/4 of the bowl before I couldn’t take it anymore! I’ll stick to the regular ole green monsters in the future. But, thanks to the magic of Twitter, I’ve already got a good home to send the rest of the pouch off to! I may not be a fan, but I’m glad other people are! Enjoy Amanda!

After resisting the piles and piles of baked goods (no lie here people! PILES.) all morning, I succumbed to the call of homemade birthday cake. I swear there is a birthday in this building at least every other week.

I came back to my desk and reheated some leftover quinoa. I threw some spices on top of the container this morning to flavor it up…don’t ask what, though, because I just blindly grabbed. The spices blended together well, but I think I waited too long between cooking and eating because it dried out quite a bit.

I’m off to find some way to make this a bit more edible! Wish me luck!

I had the chocolate flavor of the vega powder and actually loved it. I am almost out of it, but find it hard to justify paying over 20 bucks for a bag. I eat well as it is, so I see no reason to buy a protein powder. I am glad that you are so proud of yourself for your bootcamp efforts! I love bootcamp style workouts, but I usually on them on my own.

I do wonder if it was just the flavor I had…but ditto, the $20+ is ridiculous. I’ll live without it!
