happy memorial day.

Monday afternoon and I’m sitting in the comfort of my home, relaxing, and enjoying another day to myself?  Yep, I could get used to this!

It’s been really nice to have another day off.  I love traveling and getting to visit new places, but it can be more exhausting than everyday life, so I’m grateful to have a quiet day.  I lounged around the house all morning – slept in, read, and watched some TV.  It was lovely!

I made a big yogurt mess bowl for breakfast with vanilla Chobani, vanilla almond Bear Naked granola, a spoonful of Naturally Nutty mocha peanut butter, and some chia seeds.  The peanut butter was an excellent addition!

Once I finally got moving, I ventured out to Meijer to restock the fridge – I was down to just about nothing when it comes to fruits and veg!  Literally, I had an apple.  Well, a cucumber that I had forgotten was in there, but that wasn’t looking so hot anymore and promptly made it’s way to the trash.

After almost a solid week of cold, rainy days, it’s finally hot out again here in Grand Rapids!  It’s just shy of 90 degrees!  I love, love, love it, but when I left the house in jeans and a dark t-shirt, I was clearly not dressed for it!  By the time I got home, I was a hot, sweaty mess.  Since I needed lunch anyhow, an icy cold vanilla charged smoothie sounded like the perfect solution!  Into the blender went a banana, 1 cup of frozen mixed fruit (peach, mango, pineapple, cherry, and grape), 1 cup vanilla soy milk, a heaping handful of spinach, 1 scoop Sun Warrior protein powder, 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal, and 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract.

It was just what I needed on a hot summer afternoon!

I spent the day yesterday by the pool and then eating wayyy too much food and going to bed early. Perfection! =)
