golden anniversary.

Tonight I had the opportunity to attend the annual Enrichment Dinner for my alma mater.  This year’s event was particularly special because we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the university!

I was invited primarily because of my involvement with the Young Alumni Council, but also as a donor.  Whatever the reason, I’m all over a chance to get dressed up, have some cocktails (undocumented, but it happened…), and eat a fancy dinner.

Andrea and her husband also attended!

It was a fancy pants dinner which means fancy pants food!  I am grateful that I’ve expanded my horizons because a few years ago I wouldn’t have touched the food that was served with a 10 foot pole.

Yeah, about that dinner.  I’m not 100% sure of what everything was on there.  Whatever it all was, it certainly was ridiculously delicious.

Throughout the evening, several people were honored for all they’ve done for Grand Valley including all four of the Presidents and the major donors/families that continue to make extremely large contributions to the University.  Large to the point that most have at least one building on campus bearing their family name.

The Enrichment Dinner is always one of my favorite events throughout the year.  It’s inspiring to be in a room with so many other people who share my Laker pride and would share their valuable time and money to make Grand Valley what it is today.

Oh, and what fancy dinner could end without a dessert course?  Certainly not this one!

Are you involved with your alma mater (high school, college, grad school)? I don’t do anything with my high school, but I love sporting my Laker Pride!
