goin’ coastal.

It’s been such a busy, but fun weekend!  After the Tulip Time Run yesterday, my bed and I had a date for a couple of hours.  I was so tired!!  Once I finally got moving, I was hungry and in serious need of caffeine!  Hello Frappucino Happy Hour, I like you.  I had a caramel Frap and used a coupon they had sent me for a free petites – highly recommend the red velvet whoopie pie.  Yum.

I broke out some leftovers for dinner – brown rice, refried beans, tomato, and some freshly made guacamole.

Once I was fed and caffeinated, it was time to get ready for the night!  I was heading downtown to see Kenny Chesney’s Goin’ Coastal 2011 tour as he stopped in Grand Rapids.  Country music shows are the best – I get to break out my faux cowgirl boots!

The concert was a blast!  I went with my friend Ashley, her mom, and a bunch of people they know.  Our seats were not quite what I’m usually fortunate enough to get (as my brother-in-law, Chris, phrased it, I’m usually close enough to feel their sweat), but I was there and in good company, so that’s what counts!

Uncle Kracker and Billy Currington were the opening acts for the tour.  They were both great!  Although his stage name might lead you to believe otherwise, I think Uncle Kracker is really talented.  And Billy, well, he’s just adorable!

When she was first coming off her American Idol win, I saw Carrie Underwood open for Kenny – and now she’s headlining her own tours!

Almost two hours after the show started, Kenny Chesney finally took the stage!!

The man is a definite entertainer!  He sang most of my favorite of his songs (most notably, Big Star and Summertime) and all his biggest hits.  He told stories behind some of the songs and brought his opening acts back out to sing with him.

He might not have the strongest voice in country music, but he sure does have some fun songs that get me stoked for summer!  His music makes me itch for some time at the beach, out on the boat, soaking up the sun, with an ice cold beer in hand!  Bring on the summertime!
