give today all the love you can.

I started out today feeling a bit sorry for myself.  Valentine’s Day is not necessarily the highlight of the year for this perpetually single gal.  After a few hours of this, I forced myself out of the self-imposed funk.  Is it hard to see people around me being all lovey-dovey?  Kinda, yeah.  I’d be lying if I said otherwise.  But, I’m so glad to see people in my life that have found that love.  I may not have that yet, but it’s just not my time.  God is working in my heart and in my life to prepare me for when it is.

I remind myself that in spite of the romantic aspect of this day, it’s not just about telling your significant other you love them.  It’s about sharing that sentiment with all the people you love and care about. I may not have a boyfriend/fiancée/husband, but I have a plethora of  amazing family and friends who love me.  For that, I am thankful and thought this quote was fitting for today.

So, may this inspire you as much as it did me:

Now is your time.  Become, believe, try.  Walk closely with people you love and with other people who believe that God is very good and life is a grand adventure.  Don’t spend time with people who make you feel like less than you are.  Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned.  Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path.

Okay, moving on.  Well, not quite.  Check out this amazing sunset over Grand Rapids last night.

Okay, now moving on for real.

I was still quite full from yesterday’s lunch, so dinner was light.  I don’t know that you can truly consider wine and popcorn a true dinner, but I did just that.

In other news, I feel like a legit runner now:  I lost (part of) a toenail last night!  And lucky for all of you, my first thought was literally I can’t wait to Tweet/blog about this!.  I’ve  been told that it’s the mark of a runner, so I was strangely excited.

In all truthfulness, I’m pretty sure I damaged it somehow months ago because there’s been this funky ridge, but I can’t imagine the gradual increase I’ve had in mileage lately helped matters.

It was a quick and easy meal this morning:  sunflower seed butter toast with white chocolate chips.  What a great combo.  I may have gone a bit overboard with the sunflower seed butter, but really, a serving is 2 tablespoons?  Criminal.

Having some extra on there just keeps me full throughout the morning.  Boom.  Excess justified.

Do you treat Valentine’s as a special day or is it just another Monday for you?

I did celebrate yesterday with my boyfriend, but we just went out to dinner. We never go out to dinner, so it was a nice change of routine. Today is just dedicated to me though, and I’m making a nice dinner at home and relaxing!

I have totally had popcorn and wine for dinner before. In secret. 😉
