girls on the run 5k

Up early again this morning – although compared to 5:30 am yesterday, a little after 7 was practically sleeping in today!  Breakfast was a quick Bagel Thin with strawberry cream cheese.

No, I was not up early just for kicks, there was a fantastic reason!  This morning, I had the honor of volunteering at the Kent County Girls on the Run end of season celebration 5k!

I wish it worked better with my work schedule to volunteer as a coach, but at this point in my life, it’s just not a realistic option, so I volunteer in ways that I can.  In February, I helped out at their Walkathon and I ran as a SoleMate last Saturday, raising $550 to support the local program!  Today, I was a course marshall, directing girls along the course, but more importantly cheering them along!

Watching the girls run was such a cool experience!  After the last girl passed by where I was on the course, I made it over closer to the finish line to cheer them on as they finished.  It was such a fun day to be a part of!

After a fun morning, I’ve been enjoying a quiet afternoon around the house, getting a couple things done and relaxing outside with a book and a leftover tempeh taco for lunch.

I had a little buddy that kept sneaking out from behind the bush and checking out what was going on.  Hey chipmunk!

(Pay no attention to the broken pottery that hasn’t been thrown out yet!)

All in all, a lovely Saturday thus far!

I saw a flier for this at my gym on Friday and I really thought about volunteering for the 5K, but then I was a little too lazy…maybe next year!
