for good.

There’s a scene in the remake of The Parent Trap (with a young and still adorably precocious Lindsay Lohan) where Annie and Hallie discover their mutual love of Oreos dipped in peanut butter.  For years, I thought that sounded like a disgusting combination.

I officially recant that statement.

It’s a brilliant combination that I will definitely have again!

Tonight, I ventured into the PowerFlex class at the Y, one that I’ve been wanting to try for awhile.  As far as I can tell, it’s pretty similar to Body Pump in that you work a different set of muscles during each song.  I was feeling pretty intimidated going in with the fear of the unknown.  There were already a few people with all of their equipment set up, so I followed their lead and grabbed all of my stuff.

Since it was my first time doing the class, I took it light on the weights and did everything with a pair of 5 pound hand weights or the barbell with 13 pounds (3 pound bar + a pair of 5 pound weighted plates).  On some of the muscle groups, particularly everything with the lower body, that was more than enough.  Others, like biceps, I could have handled a little more.

The class challenged me to do things I wouldn’t normally do when I do strength on my own (particularly squats and lunges).  I want to make it a consistent part of my fitness; I think in the long run it will have some great benefits and do me a lot of good!

Once I got home, I threw together a homemade pizza topped with black olives, tomato, spinach, and Italian blend cheese.

I had to eat fast because one of the local movie theaters was showing the season finale of Glee on the big screen!  It was so fun to watch the show not only in such a large format, but with a crowd of other Gleeks who love the show!

While I say this about every other episode, I am completely obsessed with the Rachel/Kurt duet of For Good from the musical Wicked.  Not only is it one of my favorite songs from my all time favorite Broadway production, but Lea Michele and Curt Colfer were meant to sing songs like that.  It was an absolutely stunning duet and easily a highlight of the entire season.  Plus, the fact that the scene was filmed at the Gershwin Theater where the actual production is housed made it that much more special.

Oreos and peanut butter is my favorite dessert EVER. But it’s really dangerous because they are highly addictive. I try not to buy Oreos too often.

Fortunately, I rarely have them around the house! I’m almost wishing I hadn’t had a random pack at my desk…ignorance is bliss sometimes!
