Happy Thursday!  It’s a late post tonight – I’ve been on the go today and decided to get away from my desk at lunch rather than blogging.  Sometimes you need that mental break, ya know?

breakfast.

I threw together my second attempt at a Fitnessita breakfast cookie because I knew I’d need something to eat on the road this morning.  Remember my semi-successful first attempt last month?  This time I used less milk and actually spread it out into cookie form, so I had higher hopes!

I had a good mix:  1/3 cup rolled oats, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1/3 cup almond milk, 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1 tbsp chia seeds, and 1 tbsp flaxseed meal.  All topped with sprinkles….because why not have sprinkles on top of my breakfast?!

Definitely much more of a success this time around!

I hopped on the scale this morning for my weekly weigh-in.

last weigh in: 159.2 | this week: 161.4 | change: +2.2 | overall: -71.6

I can’t say I was surprised.  I didn’t eat that solidly this week and I haven’t worked out.  To be honest, I was somewhat expecting it to be higher.  A year ago, a gain like this would have devastated me.  Now I feel much more level-headed about it:  eat a little better, move a little more.  It’s just a number and it’ll go back down…a couple pounds isn’t the end of the world, right?!   🙂

lunch.

I walked over to the cafeteria across the street for some lunch.  I had a slice of cheese pizza and a slice of Mediterranean which had kalamata olives, feta, tomatoes, and spinach.

There may have been ice cream calling my name on the way back to work.  Ice cream has a way of doing that, didn’t you know?  It was calling so loud I didn’t waste time taking a picture (hence, the recycled shot from the last trip…).  No worries, it looked pretty much exactly the same today.  Same flavor, same kind of cone.  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

I heart ice cream.

yoga + good form running.

After work, I made a quick trip home to get ready for the evening!  Don’t I look ready for a night on the town?  😉

I met up with Andi and Kayla at Gazelle Sports for a couple classes.  First up,  Yoga for Runners which was the first time I’ve worked out since Zumba and strength training a week and a half ago.  Yep, I’ve been a slacker.  I’m okay with that.

After yoga, we stuck around for the Good Form Running clinic where they talked about the four points of good form:  posture, having a slightly forward lean, striking with your midfoot, and a faster cadence.  The two things I need to work on is my strike (I’m so guilty of striking with my heel) and cadence (taking shorter strides; thus, striking the ground more).  Having a faster cadence should help with my strike, so the two go somewhat hand-in-hand.

I wasn’t too surprised that I strike with my heel, but I never really made the correlation that it could be a part of my knee problems.  I don’t think that’s it exclusively because problems have plagued me since I hyperextended it really badly when I was 12.  I do think that if I can correct my form, it will help my knee in the long run.

dinner.

The clinic was scheduled to go until 8 pm, but it was almost half an hour after that by the time I left the store.  I swung through Chipotle to grab dinner on my way home.  I was SO hungry!!  I had a veggie burrito.

I inhaled my dinner while watching The Office.  Did anyone else see it?  I’m not sure if I’m a fan of Will Ferrell’s character.  As much as I love, love, love The Office, there’s definitely a part of me that wishes they were just calling it quits this season.  It won’t be the same without Michael Scott Steve Carell.

Are you a fan of The Office? I really didn’t get into it until the summer I lived in California (2008) and a couple of my roommates were obsessed!

I think this is the first time I’ve commented … lurked a couple of times HAHA I’m Hailey! That pizza looks absolutely delicious! Food envy! I think its such an amazing gift you can give yourself to not beat yourself up about one bad week. Tomorrow is another day and it can only get better!
