I finished watching Million Dollar Baby last night and I had no idea how it ended. I won’t say too much in case people haven’t seen it (if that’s you…stop what you’re doing and go rent it), but there were some serious tears throughout the last 30 or so minutes.
I also finished reading The Alchemist last night. It’s an odd little story, written in the form of a parable/fable. I liked how it gave the message of going after your destiny and dreams, and being willing to take a risk for that. It definitely had the sense of being inspirational but I can’t help but wonder how much of the story got lost in the translation (the original text was not in English). I did find myself writing down a few quotes in my journal throughout, but for the hype this book got, I finished feeling a bit underwhelmed.
I was up early this morning for the Advantage Health Heart and Sole 5k that I ran with Andi and Kayla. And so it begins…the 2011 race season is off and running, my friends!! I am ready for some great races this year!
I ate some peanut butter toast with cinnamon chips AND white chocolate chips on the drive over. Fabulous combination. Love, love, love it.
I’ll have a full recap of the race later, but overall, I did a lot better than I anticipated I would. I haven’t run outside at all this winter, with the exception of the Resolution Run on December 31, so I really wasn’t sure how it would go. I was content with a time around 31:40. But, more on that later.
After the race, the three of us headed to Wolfgang’s for a real breakfast. I had the same thing I always get: veggie and cheddar omelet, hash browns with onions, and English muffin toast.
As always, it was ridiculously good. There’s a reason Wolfgang’s is my favorite place for breakfast!
I’ve got 6 more miles to run today to get to the total 9 I need for my National Half Marathon training. I think I’ll let breakfast digest a bit longer. I think a date with the couch, a blanket, and some books will be a necessity too. Sounds like a good Saturday to me!
