The scale this morning took me right back to where I was two weeks ago.
last weigh in: 160.8 | this week: 162.4 | change: +1.6 | overall: -70.6
Disappointing, but life goes on, no? I just need to try a little harder, eat a little cleaner, move a little more. It’s not rocket science, this weight loss thing, it’s just a matter of actually doing what I know I need to do. Sometimes, I’m not so good at that part. I’ll get there in time.
This afternoon, I attended a lecture on nutrition, focusing on macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fat). There was a LOT of information and statistics and I couldn’t write fast enough to get most of it, but I was really stoked that the physician giving the lecture highly advocated for a plant based diet! Yeah!
I grabbed lunch afterwards and it felt only appropriate to get a ginormous salad. I had tons of spinach and spring mix, topped with a bunch of random stuff like chickpeas, tomato, cucumber, sprouts, an Israeli couscous mix, and lots of other goodies. Oh, and juicy strawberries!
I had an Odwalla Strawberry C juice on the side.
After work, I ended up scratching my quickie workout because I forgot to incorporate needing time to shower and get ready again if I were to get all sweaty. I was on a somewhat time crunch and it was going to be tight.
Instead, I had a little time to make a quality dinner: tempeh tacos! I shredded a package of tempeh and prepared it with a package of taco seasoning. I added in a can of diced tomatoes while the seasoning was simmering. It was all topped off with a Mexican blend cheese, refried beans, and salsa on a spinach tortilla.
With some pepper on the side; they were actually supposed to get diced and go in the tempeh mix but I didn’t remember in time. Oops! They work just fine as a side!
I attended my first ballet tonight! Through one of my young professionals groups, I was able to get a ticket to our local company’s production of Romeo and Juliet for half off! Since attending a ballet performance was on my 101 in 1001 list already, it worked out perfect!
I really didn’t know what to expect, but I greatly enjoyed it! It’s astounding how graceful, yet still so precise, the ballerinas are! Plus, ballerinas have kick ass legs, so I’m pretty jealous of that. Yep, I go for some culture and that’s my take-away. Awesome.
Seriously though, it was a beautiful production and time just flew by!
Off to bed – I’ve got to be on the road tomorrow morning earlier than I normally have to get out of bed! At least it’s Friday!

I LOVE the ballet! I can’t believe this was your first one! Romeo & Juliet is one of my favorite stories and depending on the choreographer, I bet it was really fab. I just saw it in Milwaukee a few years ago (choreographed by our artistic director) and it was great. I am actually going to see Coppelia, one of my all-time favorites, tonight! So fun!
I know, I’ve been deprived! I can’t wait to see another!
