After almost a week away between house/dog sitting and a weekend in my hometown, I am glad to be back in my apartment. I am anxious to get back to my “normal” routine and sleep in my own bed.

I had an absolutely wonderful weekend at home, spending time with my family. It was a busy couple of days, but just what the doctor ordered. I actually did take photos of most of my food, but have little to no desire to recap two days of food!

I am really excited to have gotten a Nike+ for my birthday! It is something I’ve been looking at for quite some time, but just never broke down and bought it. I send it to my mom as a random gift idea a couple months back and she came through for me! My running has completely slacked off lately. It’s been close to three weeks since I’ve gone at all…and let’s be honest, I really haven’t done much else in terms of exercise to make up for it. I have to real reason. Laziness, lack of motivation, I really don’t know.

But, I think (hope) this will be just the thing I need to get me going again. My half marathon is only about a month and a half away, and my lack of recent mileage I fear will be extremely detrimental come race day. I’m nervous, but at this point, I’m just going to do my best and whatever happens, happens!

Be honest: Do you think I can be ready for a half marathon by mid-October?

Mid-October, so that gives you about a month and a half?

I think you can do it. 🙂
I am just getting into running myself, and I find that if I tell myself “I am running tomorrow morning, for [enter number here] minutes, or [enter number here] miles, and I’m not stopping until I finish,” it gives me a clear goal.

It also motivates me to have an app on my phone that tracks my workouts.
I just couldn’t bear to leave an empty space in my exercise log where my run was supposed to be!

Anyways, I’m rooting for you!

Mindy, I think you can definitely finish the half marathon, if not kick its butt! You still have a month and a half. Just be consistent for these next 6 weeks, and you will be able to kick its butt! Do you have a certain goal time in mind, or do you want to finish? I’m so glad you had a great time this weekend.

Thanks for the encouragement, girlie! My original goal was a sub-2:30, but really just to finish! I think I’ll have a better idea of where I’m at by the end of the week or so.

I used the Nike+ for a couple of years and loved it! As for the half… well, I say maybe use these next couple weeks as trial weeks. Try a 5 or 6 mile run this weekend and if it goes okay (as in you survive, might not feel great lol), then I say you should be able to do it. Good luck though!

Thanks girl! I was thinking 4 or 5 on Saturday, so I’ll probably go with the 5! My original training plan had 7, so in that regard it’s not TOO far behind!
