The Final Countdown: Week 1

I’m determined to get back in the swing of posting my weekly weigh-ins. I’m even more determined that this will be the time I finally reach my goal of 133. So, the incredibly unoriginal series The Final Countdown launches today! If I’m being really honest, this is an easy way to not think of a post title each week. SEO be damned.

Last weigh-in (July 20):  159.2
This week: 155.8 (-3.4)
Pounds to goal: 22.8

Last week’s weigh-in freaked me out. I have worked my tail off this year and getting dangerously close to the 160s again was not what I wanted to see. Although my week wasn’t perfect, I did well enough to see some significant progress!

My biggest success this week was getting my snacking under control. I had a few weeks really stressful weeks in late June and early July, and I compensated by snacking a lot. I am a huge advocate for a healthy and intentional snack, in fact, I plan on it daily! Three meals a day just doesn’t work for me. But, I was mindlessly eating things that weren’t necessarily the best choice. I also tried to be more aware of my portion sizes for all of my meals, as well as my snacks. I also worked out six days! Diet is the primary key to success in weight loss, but burning those extra calories certainly doesn’t hurt.

My biggest struggle this week was drinking. I impulsively bought a bottle of wine at the grocery store on Saturday when I was picking up a few things. And, the thing about wine is that once you open a bottle, it doesn’t stay fresh forever. So, I had a glass of wine with dinner about four nights this week. While certainly not terrible in the grand scheme of things, I know that cutting back will significantly help my progress.

My goal for this week is to increase my fruit and vegetable intake! My meals are heavy on the carbs lately. While I fully believe that carbs are not the enemy, I know I’ve been eating more of them than I should.

Fellow weight loss warriors, how was your week? Leave a comment! I’d love to support and encourage you!
