I did my first Saturday long run of my half marathon training this morning: 5 miles! The last mile and a half or so were a challenge, but I finished! My goal was to be done in under an hour and I finished at 57:18 (11:27 pace). I would have ideally liked to have been under an 11:00 minute pace, but for my first longer run, I’ll take it!
breakfast.
I tried a little experiment with my cereal this morning. I had a bowl of Kashi Heart to Heart and was really craving some protein. So I added in some Sun Warrior protein powder. I think it would have been a lot more effective if I had mixed it with the milk and then added it. Instead, my chosen method of throwing it on top of the cereal and pouring milk on that was a bit of a failure.
The Sun Warrior didn’t mix in so well and got a bit clumpy. Oh well. It was still edible, so I ate it. I was hungry (and too cheap to throw it out and start over).
lunch.
By the time I got home from the gym and then shoveled the sidewalks (we got about 4ish inches of snow last night), I was super hungry. I had a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese in the pantry and it sounded amazingly good. The bright yellow/orange cheesy powder is a bit disturbing, but the final product is enjoyable. It’s a good every so often kind of treat!
The rest of the afternoon/evening, I’m hanging with my sister Nicki’s kids! They’re are too cute for their own good, so I’m excited!
