fancy coffee friday.

In an effort to be conscious of my wallet and my waistline, I’ve been trying really hard lately to limit my coffee drinks to once a week:  enter fancy coffee Friday.  Sometimes, particularly as I adjust to it being a once a week thing rather than an anytime I crave it habit, I’ve slipped and stopped other days (like on Tuesday).

I love it because this is making it into more of a treat.  Before, I would drink it quickly without thinking.  Now, I’m learning to sip and enjoy it.  Before, I would get a venti because I felt like I needed it.  Now, I’m starting to scale down to a grande because I don’t actually need a 20 ounce drink.  Okay, I don’t need a fancy drink at all.

I’m developing this into a healthy habit, but slowly slipping in another regard because both times I’ve gone this week, I’ve counted it as my breakfast.  A pumpkin spice latte, while delicious, is not a breakfast all on its own.

When I was shopping earlier this week, I had a major craving for potato salad.  It was actually going to be what I brought for my office potluck, but a pound of potato salad is not actually that much.  Especially when you ask for a pound and they give you barely over half of one.  Still, I took my 0.63 pound container of potato salad home to enjoy all for myself.  I actually forgot about it until I was getting ready this morning!

It was perfect for lunch and completely hit the spot.  I’m generally not a fan of mayonnaise, but I do love it in potato salad!

But, much like a coffee drink isn’t a sufficient breakfast, potato salad all on its own is not a sufficient lunch.  With that, I’m off to figure out what else to have today!

Are you a big drinker of fancy coffee drinks (lattes, mochas, etc.) like I am?

My Weight Watchers meetings are at 8am on Saturday mornings, so I stop and get a drink on my way, it’s my reward for the week. I really like having the treat once a week then just getting one throughout the week, makes it a little more special 🙂

Ooh I like the idea of a Fancy Coffee Friday!
I’m a big fan of specialty lattes and mocha coffees but it’s hardly part of the student budget!
I might join you with a weekly coffee as I do miss them 🙂
