First things first: thanks to Cynthia for the chance to guest post on her blog, It All Changes today!  Go check out my tips for how I became a runner!

It took two trips to the Y in one day because someone (yours truly) apparently can’t do math in her head, but I got my 8 miles in today!  I had a bridal shower to attend this afternoon, so my plan was to go run beforehand.  I figured it out and thought that if I left the house by 10 am, that would leave me plenty of time to get my miles in.

Except that I forgot that I had to stop and get gas, I still needed to wrap my gift, and I didn’t account for time to stretch or get back to my house.  I realized all of this about 2 or so miles into the run.  I got as much in as I could and came back after the shower to finish up.

The first time, I did 4.5 miles in 50:52 (11:18 pace) and the second time around was 3.5 miles in 38:58 (11:08 pace).  Combined it was just shy of an hour and a half (01:29:50).  I was really dehydrated this morning so it was a rough one to start, but I felt better the second half.

One of these times I’ll maybe actually get my long run in all in one shot.  I need to!

I had some pre-run fuel with toast slathered with sunflower seed butter and cinnamon chips.

The shower was at 2 pm, which is one of those times where I wasn’t sure if there would be anything beyond cake (which I can’t eat this week anyhow), so I grabbed a Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar.  I made a detour at Starbucks too and grabbed a venti soy caramel macchiato.

I was pleasantly surprised there was food at the shower, but not much I could actually eat.  And by not much, I mean chips and this really awesome salsa.  It was definitely nice I actually could eat something they served!

Now, looking back I realize I have definitely not eaten enough today, particularly in the realm of quality sustenance, so I’m off to find myself some dinner!
