I finally got around to watching The Fighter tonight.  I wanted to see all the Academy Award Best Picture nominees before the show, but it just didn’t happen, so I’m still making the rounds.

The beginning?  Not a fan.  It was, I thought, a bit of a sleeper at the beginning.  By the end, I was hooked.  The movie, the actors, everything deserved the nominations received.  It was a superb comeback story, which I’m always a sucker for.  Plus, it’s based on a true story which generally makes it that much more compelling.

Highly recommended.

Tonight’s meal was a bit random, mostly due to my dwindling groceries.  I was planning on going shopping tonight, but I put it off until tomorrow when I’ll be right near the grocery story.  At $3.50 a gallon, I’m not driving out of my way if I don’t have to!

I had chips, cheese, and salsa – there were supposed to be black beans in there, too, but the can had been open a bit too long.

I also had some trail mix.  I had a bag of a store brand with peanuts, cashews, almonds, raisins, and M&Ms.  I bulked it up with pecans, Craisins, and sunflower seeds.

I had a bowl of popcorn during the movie.  I was feeling too unambitious at that point to go find my camera, so imagine there’s a bowl of slightly burnt popcorn added in here!

injury update.

During the half marathon on Saturday, I hurt my knee to the point that walking was a bit of a struggle.  Although Sunday and Monday continued to be rough, I noticed some huge progress today!  I would say I’m feeling about 85% back to my normal self.

I’m not ready to throw my running shoes on and hit the road quite yet, but I think hope my recovery time is going to be a lot shorter than I thought it would be.  I’m going to take tomorrow off and give a short little run a shot on Thursday.

Fingers crossed!

I think it is a day of recovery for every mile run in a race. I’ll double check on that. In the meantime, try the chocolate cake martini at Mangiamos. Magnifico! Got it by accident when I ordered their chocolate martini (thanks to you) but now I am hooked.

Ugh, I hate running injuries! Good luck for a speedy recovery! I’m dying to see The Fighter! I have it in my Netflix que, but I have a movie that’s been sitting on my TV stand for a couple weeks that I need to watch so I can get some new ones! I love Mark Walberg 🙂
