dominique moceanu follows me.

In the summer of 1996, I was an impressionable 13 year old.  I stayed up far too late, far too many nights glued to the USA Women’s Gymnastics team dominate at the Atlanta Olympics.  Despite my lack of coordination, training, and flexibility, I dreamed of one day being on that team. I was inspired by the girls of the Magnificent Seven as they became known, but particularly Dominique Moceanu.  I loved her spunk on the floor routines, her determination, her athleticism.  She was only two years older than me, but she was out there achieving her dreams, accomplishing the goal she had worked so hard for.  To this day, I love watching gymnastics.

So, when I logged onto Twitter last night and saw that she, the woman that started my love for the sport of gymnastics, was following me, I was over the moon ecstatic.

It’s the little things.

Not too long ago, I won a box of Perfect Foods Bars when Evan did a giveaway!  I was really excited when they arrived over the weekend and couldn’t wait to try one!  I had one last night and loved it!

With lots of organic ingredients, no artificial ingredients or preservatives, and solid nutrition facts, I’m definitely a fan of this brand!  They are a bit pricey, but I fully believe you get what you pay for and I’m always willing to pay a bit extra for something healthy and tasty.

I was awake far too late last night.  2 am kind of late.  Care to take a guess as to why?

  • Sleeping in far too long messed with my internal clock
  • There was a pretty good thunderstorm rolling in
  • I got sucked into Tina Fey’s book and didn’t want to put it down
  • Lady Gaga’s album came out at midnight

Actually…it was all of the above.  The sleeping in was the true culprit, but everything else added to it.  I ended up staying in bed far longer than I should have this morning.  I grabbed another Perfect Foods Bar for the road and swung through Starbucks for some desperately needed caffeine in the form of a soy caramel macchiato (because what else do I ever get?!).

I’ve been listening to Gaga’s album most of the morning and I’m enjoying it.  After a couple times through, I’m thinking right now that I like the debut album better, but there are some definite standouts on this record.  Born This Way, The Edge of Glory, and Hair are my favorites right now!

Many, many of the tracks will find their way onto my workout playlists over the next few months.  The album is chock full of upbeat, dancey tunes sure to keep me moving!

Are you a Gaga fan?  Have you gotten the new album?  If you have, what are you favorite  tracks?

I definitely feel like I’m going to like it more as time goes by…I was not a fan of her first album initially!
