Dear boot camp,
You did not defeat me. I thought for sure that you would. In fact, I saw more improvement than I ever could have imagined in only four weeks. Let’s examine, shall we?
I lost inches in every single area we were measured!
belly button: -2.25″
I am slightly skeptical about the accuracy of the thigh measurement, but I’m not going to complain!
It was my goal to see an improvement in every area of the fitness testing. I just barely did in the crunches, but I still did it. Let’s compare the numbers from week one to week four:
1 mile run: 10:02 in week one // 9:07 in week four
I fully believe I could have been under 9 minutes if it had been warmer, but the cold air killed my lungs.
front plank: held for 1:05 in week one // 1:30 in week four
For each of the following exercises, we had to do as many as we could in one minute:
crunches: 65 in week one // 68 in week four
Not much improvement here, but I feel like there wasn’t much room for that. 65 in a minute was, in my mind, already huge.
bench dips: 27 // 44
push ups: 18 // 32
reverse crunches: 30 // 43

So, boot camp, I dreaded every morning when my alarm went off at 4:30 (okay, 4:50 the past few days). Dragging myself out of bed for a 5:30 am workout was not my idea of fun. I was skeptical of what you could really do for me in twenty days. Thanks for pleasantly surprisingly me.
P.S. I rewarded myself for the success with a fabulously delicious bagel and cream cheese this morning.
