changin’ things up.

Generally, I try to blog twice a day – once during my lunch break to talk about breakfast and lunch, then again in the evening for my workout (or whatever else I’m up to that night) and dinner.  To be honest, I’m feeling slightly burnt out by that schedule and really need to take my lunch break for what it’s meant to be – time away from my desk and the computer.  I’m craving that something fierce lately.

For the time being, I’m going to try just posting at night and see how that goes. I might get back into the twice a day schedule, I might not.  I might keep blogging about three meals a day, I might not, particularly as I get deeper into training for my two big races in 2012.

Changin’ things up.  Shake and bake, baby!

I’m somewhat regretting the impulse Pop-Tarts purchase from my last grocery shopping trip.  Pumpkin pie deliciousness or not, the box is just taunting me.  I had a pack for breakfast and was hungry a couple hours later. I got caught up in a project so that distracted me until lunch:  leftovers from Bombay Cuisine and a Dole Fruit Crisp.  I had maybe a quarter of the dish from Bombay left, so it wasn’t very significant.

In retrospect, it was really not enough food, a realization that hit me hard while I was running tonight.  I felt really great for the first two miles and was running about a 10:50 pace.  By the third and final mile, I was really struggling and wishing I had something more substantial for lunch.  I contemplated stopping, but walked when I needed to and got to the end.  I finished in 33:46 (11:15 pace).

Filed under:  lessons I really should have learned by now.

Ironically, I was NOT hungry when I got home.  I really just wanted protein so I mixed up a sample packet I’ve had lying around of a CLICK protein drink, with some cereal (Wheaties Fuel) on the side.

It’s quite amazing how much the drink actually tastes like a vanilla latte.  It’s no Starbucks, but it’s not too shabby!  Do note that it has a double shot of espresso, so I’m probably going to regret drinking it in a few hours once it’s closer towards bedtime.  Still, I’d definitely drink it again!

Off to get my sweat on with some hot yoga!

I don’t know how you have the patience to blog twice a day! I give you major props. I’m lucky if I get in 3 posts/week. But sometimes quality > quantity, that should help!
