carb loaded and ready.

Last night, I headed to 25 Kitchen + Bar in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids with Sara and Jacqueline.  I had a coupon from Hop In Deals (like Groupon) that was just about to expire – can’t let that go to waste!  I started with a Pama Royale cocktail (or drinky poo, as my grandma would call it).

I also had the West African pizza sans the chili pepper.  The last time I had that particular pizza, the heat from the pepper completely took away from the rest of the pizza, so I wanted to actually taste it.

Much better without the pepper…and the whole feeling like my mouth is on fire sensation.  I can do spice, but it was ridiculous last time around!

Once we got home, it was time for Jeopardy! and Big Bang Theory.  I didn’t plan on it, but I totally zonked out after Big Bang – in my clothes, without brushing my teeth or washing my face.  At least I was in bed!  I knew I was tired, but I didn’t think I was fall asleep before 9:00 pm tired!  I woke up feeling more refreshed and ready to go than I have in ages, so I clearly needed the sleep!

Tomorrow is my big 25k race for the River Bank Run!  I am excited, anxious, nervous, and totally calm about it all at the same time.  How is that even possible?  I have completely taken advantage of the day before race day carb loading gig.  Hence, a bagel for breakfast and a doughnut for a morning snack.

The doughnut?  Not actually planned.  One of my co-workers made a spur of the moment trip to Marge’s Donut Den, hands down the best place to get doughnuts in the city.  It was so soft and fresh and delish!

Work was pretty much unproductive today.  My energy and attention was highly focused on tomorrow’s race, plus I forgot the keys to my desk at home, so the big project I needed to work on was out of the picture.  I took off a few hours early today, so I got done what I could before heading out to the race expo!!

I grabbed my packet, collected lots of free stuff I don’t really need, ate some samples, met some cool people, and forgot to take pictures the entire time I was there!

I had, you guessed it, more carbs for a late lunch once I got home.  Oh hey, look at that, something green!

All washed down with a java chip Frappuccino.  Because that’s what goes well with pasta and garlic toast.  Gotta take advantage of Frappuccino Happy Hour while I can…or just use that as an excuse to stop at Starbucks.  Either way.

Gotta go finish up my playlist for the race and get ready for the night!  It’s Volunteer Appreciation Night for all the Anthem leaders (and the leaders for the rest of the Student Ministry programs).  It’s such a fun night, I’m stoked!

Just wanted to say good luck again! I’m sure you did awesome! And I wouldn’t have been able to turn down a doughnut like that either. Looks scrumptious. Hey – that sugar may give you extra fuel! 😉
