Sometimes, I can be a bit of a klutz. Yesterday morning was one of those times and as a result, I busted my glasses. See, I keep them on my nightstand and I was apparently a bit overzealous while I was making my bed. I had one of those moments when everything suddenly is in slow motion as half of the things I had on my nightstand – glasses included – go flying. The glasses hit the floor, then soon after so did my water bottle. Smack dab on top of my glasses. My beloved Coach glasses.
Ridiculously bent earpiece? Fixable.
Snapped frames? Fixable.
Superglue on the lens from trying to put the snapped frames back together? No so fixable.
Fortunately, I can see pretty well without my glasses since I have no contacts and no backup pair. It’s not a permanent solution, going without, but it’s a short term fix. I’m going to get some inexpensive replacements this weekend. My checking account is not a fan of the broken glasses.
Needless to say, yesterday did not start off on the right foot! I curse you clumsy tendencies!
Food wise, I’ve been doing some damage on the pizza I made on Tuesday. And by that, I mean I ate half of it today. Some for lunch, some for dinner. Plus some wine for dinner, too. Wine is always a good choice, no?
I went for a run tonight. I think upping to four runs a week instead of three is going to work really well for me. Granted, it’s only the first week, but I’ve felt stronger and enjoyed running more than just on the three day a week schedule. Tonight, I had 5.0 miles on the agenda. I tried a new route and I swear 90% of it was uphill. That’s only a slight exaggeration. While it was a tough run, I felt solid the whole time.
- Mile 1: 11:24
- Mile 2: 10:49
- Mile 3: 11:56
- Mile 4: 12:10
- Mile 5: 10:27
Overall, 5.0 miles in 56:47 (11:21 pace)…and would have been less had I stopped my Garmin while waiting for the ridiculously long stoplights. I was a sweaty mess by the time I got home, but I finished with a smile on my face! Plus, when the last mile is the fastest? That rules.
Totally unrelated, but if you’re like me and mourning the closing of the Picnik photo editing site, you should definitely check out PicMonkey. It’s a new and, dare I say, potentially superior alternative. I may have
had a little fun gone overboard editing the above photo.
