back to normal.

After over a week of being away from home and my normal routine (I was house/dog sitting part of the time, then house/kid sitting for the rest) , I was SO glad to sleep in my own bed last night!  Not only that, but I am itching to get back into my normal routines and healthy habits.

I had a meeting for Anthem (the youth group I volunteer for) last night, so I stopped at church on my way home, then by the grocery store to grab a few things after that.  How is it that a “few” things never ends up that way?  I spent over $50!  By the time I got home, it was close to 10pm and I was exhausted!  I knew I wasn’t going to be in any mood to prepare food when I got home and the mornings are never my friend, so I grabbed a few groceries that would be good to grab and go on my way out the door.

I’m determined to get back into a habit that I had started awhile back – hiking up the stairs going to and from work (it’s 161 up and 201 down!).  I hate, hate, hate stairs!  But I know they’re an awesome way to work my legs!  For so long, I had been using the lack of time in the morning as an excuse, but most mornings, the elevator takes forever anyhow, so that’s no excuse!

I was definitely out of breath by the time I made it to my floor; clearly, this is much needed!  So, the stairs it is!  Anyone else up for an elevator boycott? 😉

My on the go breakfast was a delicious cinnamon chip muffin!  Yum!  I grabbed a four-pack as I was wrapping up my grocery shopping last night; I told the roommates to help me eat them, so I don’t have to actually eat all four.

I totally would, though, because it was amazing.

And, my on the go lunch?  An Amy’s black bean burrito.  I’ve never had any of the Amy’s burrito before, but it was a cheaper option than the frozen meals, so I went with that.

Quite tasty, but it’s definitely not enough on its own to keep me full for long!

What I’m truly ready for is to make a quality dinner tonight and do some meal prep for the week!  I’ve missed being in my kitchen so very much!  It’s always more of a challenge when you’re away from home, even with access to a full kitchen.

As for the rest of tonight’s plans?  Getting back to the gym!  Woohoo!  I can’t wait!  I’ve also got lots of work to do on my running training plans – check back tonight for more deets on that!  Slowly but surely, this runner is making a comeback!
