airport eats.

Traveling makes eating hard.  Particularly when you don’t plan ahead, so I’ve been relying on airport food all morning!

Breakfast was an exact duplicate of Friday morning:  a cinnamon sugar bagel with honey almond cream cheese from Einstein Brother’s Bagels.  My college had an Einstein’s on the campus where I did the majority of my undergraduate degree, so it was a regular breakfast and studying spot for me during that phase of my life.  The rare chance I have to enjoy their bagels is something I definitely take full advantage of!

I didn’t have a ton of time to eat before boarding my first flight, but I’ve got more than enough on my layover to grab lunch.  Unfortunately, there aren’t a ton of great options, so I went with Subway which is always a safe bet.

I had the veggie delight sub on wheat with pepperjack cheese and honey mustard.  I really wanted honey oat bread, but they only had white or wheat.  Sad day.  I had a bag of barbecue baked Lay’s on the side.

For airport food, it wasn’t such a bad option.  However, the fairly good choices at lunch came to a screeching halt a couple hours later.  I spent most of the layover sitting at one of the tables in the food court with with Cinnabon to my left and Mrs. Field’s/TCBY to my right.  Temptation ultimately beat out willpower and I grabbed some TCBY before I had to board the plane.  I didn’t have a huge appetite yesterday, despite having run 13.1 miles, but I definitely made up for it today!  I was ready to eat anything I could find!

I had a waffle cone with white chocolate mousse yogurt which was one of my favorites as a kid when we had a TCBY in my town.  When I was a kid, my dad and I had “date night” on Thursdays and TCBY was one of our routine stops.  One of my sisters, Kris, even worked there for a stint!

Sprinkles make life better!  Especially when an already nervous flyer has to board a tiny plane for the last leg of the trip.

Now, I’m back home, safe and sound!  It was a whirlwind of weekend, but I had such a blast!!  I’ve been at my house for all of 10 minutes, but I’m headed right back out – I’m meeting my dad and stepmom for a celebratory dinner!  Hooray for real, substantial food!

Hey girl – great job this weekend!

Also, I don’t know if you know (or care), but the BBQ flavor of baked lays contains chicken fat (all of the other flavors are o.k. in the animal fat department). I know all vegetarians make their own rules, but I just wanted to make sure you were aware so you could make an informed choice!
