a full eight hours.

in Weight Loss

Last night, a rare weeknight event occurred:  I got a solid 8 hours of sleep.  It felt amazing.

I fell asleep literally as soon as my movie ended – and I do mean literally.  I woke up at one point in the night to find I hadn’t stayed awake long enough to turn off the TV and DVD player.

It definitely made me appreciate how good that 8 hours is for my body.  I woke up feeling far more myself than yesterday and more energized than I have in days.

I really need to make more of an effort to get to bed sooner than midnight because 6:30 am comes quickly.

weigh-in.

last weigh in: 159.8 | this week: 159.2 | change: –0.6 | overall: -73.8

Hey, a loss is a loss.  I’ll take it gladly…especially seeing as how I didn’t make much of an effort this week to really focus on weight loss.

Progress, my friends, is a beautiful thing.  🙂

breakfast.

I had some sunflower seed butter toast with white chocolate chips on my way out the door this morning.

I also swung by Starbucks on the drive into work for a soy caramel macchiato.

I’ve decided that Starbucks is my new weight loss reward .  On the weeks I lose weight, I get to buy a drink that week.  On the weeks I don’t, no drink.  This will not only give me a little extra incentive, but will help my wallet a little too, limiting me to a maximum of one drink a week.

We’ll see how well it works.

lunch.

I had to go deliver a few documents to someone this afternoon and I knew I’d be walking right past the cafeteria in that building, which worked out perfectly since the lunch I planned on eating was still sitting at home.

I had the Nothin’ Better Wrap which had a spring mix, tomato, bean sprouts, carrots, cheddar cheese, and a roasted red pepper hummus, along with some carrots and broccoli on the side.

I also grabbed a snack for dessert.  I wasn’t planning on it, but couldn’t resist when I saw temptation I couldn’t resist sitting in the cooler.

I thought it was a carrot cake bar, but I was even more excited when I looked and saw it was, in fact, something even better:  a pumpkin bar.  Apparently, the cafeteria gods knew my current pumpkin cravings.

I hope there are a plethora of pumpkin-y foods in heaven.  My soul would rest happily.

How many hours of sleep a night do you need to function well?  How many do you actually get?
